Honeywell Technologies, global industry experts in automation, process technologies and digital solutions, has completed its £1.325 billion acquisition of Johnson Matthey’s Catalyst Technologies business, expanding its capabilities across refining, petrochemicals, renewable fuels and other industrial process applications. The all-cash transaction combines Johnson Matthey’s catalyst expertise and process technologies with Honeywell Technologies’ existing automation, digital and industrial technology portfolio. The acquisition is intended to provide customers with more comprehensive solutions spanning process design, catalysts, automation and operational intelligence.

Johnson Matthey’s Catalyst Technologies business is a global provider of catalysts and process technologies supporting the decarbonization of the chemical and energy industries and the production of essential chemicals and sustainable fuels. Its portfolio includes technologies and solutions for ammonia, methanol, sustainable fuels, chemical intermediates, syngas and purification applications. The transaction follows the June 29, 2026, separation of Honeywell Aerospace as an independent publicly traded company. Honeywell Technologies now operates as a pure-play automation company serving the building, industrial and process sectors.
Honeywell Technologies noted that the expanded portfolio will strengthen its ability to support customers across a broader range of energy and industrial applications. The acquisition also increases the company’s global installed base and creates additional opportunities to integrate the acquired technologies with its Honeywell Technologies Forge intelligence platform.
“This acquisition significantly enhances Honeywell Technologies’ ability to deliver end-to-end solutions that help our customers drive efficiency, reduce emissions and accelerate energy security goals,” said Ken West, President and CEO, Process Technology, Honeywell Technologies. “By combining Johnson Matthey’s differentiated catalyst expertise with our leading technologies and digital capabilities, we are creating a strong platform for future growth while enabling our customers to immediately unlock the benefits of a more robust set of offerings.”
Honeywell also completed the spin-off of Solstice Advanced Materials in October 2025. Since 2023, the company has completed approximately $11.5 billion in acquisitions, including Compressor Controls Corporation, SCADAfence, Carrier Global’s Access Solutions business, Air Products’ liquefied natural gas process technology and equipment business, Sundyne and Li-ion Tamer. The company has also continued to reshape its portfolio through divestitures, including the sale of its Personal Protective Equipment business. Honeywell has announced agreements to sell its Productivity Solutions and Services and Warehouse and Workflow Solutions businesses, with those transactions expected to close during the second half of 2026.
